Rose M. (Kofron) Sedlacek of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Fairfax passed away on July 14, 2017 with her family at her side. A Rosary and Vigil will begin at 3 PM Sunday July 16, 2017 at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel Visitation and visitation will follow from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Monday, July 17 at St. Ludmila Catholic Church. Presiding will be Fr. Ken Glaser.  Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Fairfax.

Rose is survived by her children; Kathy Sedlacek, Judy (Bill) Folkers, Steve (Karen) Sedlacek, Nancy (Merl) Trimpe and Diane Ford.  Grandchildren; Tracy, Brian, Jason, Jamie, Cristie, Mike, Shelby, Billy, David, Shanell, C.J. and Cassi. Also surviving are 25 great Grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, a sister, Ginger (Kenny) Erger and several nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband Wimpy, her parents and a brother, Milo Kofron.

Rose was born February 7, 1929 in Cedar Rapids to Frank and Elizabeth Kofron.  She was united in marriage, September 4, 1950 to Wilmer V. Sedlacek, of Walford.  She was employed at Witwer Grocery and Killian’s Department Store.

Rose loved to bake kolaches, cookies and cakes for the grandchildren.  She had a passion for travel and tending to her beautiful peonies and roses.  She was a member of Ford V8 Club, St. Patrick’s Guild and helped with funeral dinners.  She also was a member of Moose Lodge Chapter 515. She loved to dance, gamble and visiting with friends and family.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Oldorf Hospice House for making our journey comforting.

Arrangements are withy Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel.  In lieu of flowers donations can be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha.
