Memorial
Michael P. Todd, 73, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, July 15, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family after being diagnosed with lung cancer.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with a visitation beginning 1 hour prior to the service at the chapel. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Michael was born August 25, 1943 and was adopted by William and Virginia Todd. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Palmer-Todd of Cedar Rapids, whom he had met on a blind date in 1981. They were married September 28th, 1985 in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. To this union two very special children were born, Taylor and Cabot, both of Cedar Rapids. Mike had previously be married to Karen Dale. They had a son, Michael Lee Todd (significant other Jeff Blodgett) of Cedar Rapids. Mike is also survived by two step-daughters, Krista (Scott) Daily, of Nebraska and Colleen (Tony) Polito of Ohio; a brother, Colonel (RET) Richard L. Todd of Colorado; many nieces and nephews, and one grandniece.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Brian Todd.
Mike was an avid sports fan. He loved attending Kernels and Roughriders Games. He never missed a Washington Warriors home football game. He enjoyed Special Olympic events with his family. Mike was employed by the City of Cedar Rapids and worked in both the landfill and sanitation departments. He retired in 2002. Mike will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
