Richard L. Kittrell, 88, of Springville died Sunday January 15, 2017 at the Pinicon Place Care Center in Anamosa. Memorial services at 11:00 AM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday.

Survivors include his wife Janet; a son Allen (Laura) of Coralville and two daughters Karen Kittrell, and Diane (Mark) Smith all of Bloomfield. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 step great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Joan.

Richard was born on December 21, 1928 in Nashville, Tennessee the son of Charles and Margaret Hill Kittrell. He graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, and later from Purdue University with a degree in engineering.

Richard married Beverly Bauer in 1953. Beverly passed away in 1981. He later married Janet L Lindemier on May 14, 1983 in Viola. 

Richard was an engineer at Rockwell-Collins and retired from there after more than 35 years in 1992.  He proudly served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

Richard had a lifelong love of electronics and working on the computer. He was an avid ham radio operator and was a member of several local ham radio clubs. His greatest joy however was the time spent with his beloved family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him
