Katherine Baldwin, 89 of Shellsburg died Friday January 20, 2017 at the Rock Ridge Residential Care Center in Shellsburg. Services at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday.
Survivors include her husband Arthur; a daughter Dorothy (Norman) Heistand of Vinton and a grandson James (Stephanie Bridge) Heistand of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by two brothers William and Ivan Allen and a grandson John Heistand.
Katherine was born on February 8, 1927 in Council Bluffs the daughter of Lee and Bertha Miller Allen. She married Arthur C. Baldwin on November 6, 1946 in Council Bluffs.
Katherine and her husband Arthur operated a cafeteria at NADL in Ames for several years. She enjoyed gardening, her various pets, embroidering, and especially the time spent her beloved family. Katherine was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother with whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
