Betty Lou McGee, 89, of Cedar Rapids died Sunday December 31, 2017 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Services at 1:00 PM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where there will also be military rites. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday.

Survivors include a son Bill (Linn) of Hiawatha; two brothers Mike (Bev) of Cedar Rapids and Carl (Sandy) Van Dee of Ozark, MO.; and three sisters Florence (Bob) Moellers and Helen Mendenhall all of Cedar Rapids and Sarah Martens of Shellsburg. She is also survived by several grand and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers John, Andrew, Edward and Donald Van Dee; and three sisters Mary Brown, Ida Mahan, and Grace Hotchkiss.

Betty was born on July 6, 1928 in Williamsburg the daughter of A.J. and Margaret Holderness Van Dee. Betty was a secretary at Rockwell-Collins for over 42 years retiring in 1990. She was a member of St. Ludmila Catholic Church and proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. 

Betty enjoyed walking, going to the casino, crocheting, and traveling with her sisters. She was an avid baseball fan and never missed a Cedar Rapids Kernel’s baseball game. 

Betty was a wonderful lady whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. A memorial fund has been established.
