Joanne K. Fisher, 82 passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband James of 56 years. Services at 10:00 AM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4:30 to 7:30 PM on Thursday.
Joanne was born on June 22, 1934 to Oscar & Lenora Lundquist in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1952. Joanne married her high school sweetheart, Jim, on April 5, 1953 and they shared over 56 years of marriage together.
She is survived by her sisters Aleda Peters (Bill) of North Carolina and Mary McMurray (Tom) of Iowa City, and her four sons, Alan (Laura) of Solon, Eric (Becky) of Fairfax, Todd (Denise) of Ely, and Drew (Kristie) of Solon. She and Jim had a special relationship with their grandchildren: Cody, Kyle & James, Jessica Herold, Charlie, Samantha Sexton & Katelyn, Andrew & Nic, Kennedy & Taylor and great grandchildren June & Noa, Elle, Aven & Finn, Willow, Beckett, Fisher & Scout, and many nieces and nephews.
Joanne was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She always had a smile and offered a helping hand to everyone she met, especially while working with students at Prairie High School and later as a volunteer for Hospice. She loved her family more than anything. Joanne would not miss an opportunity to be on the sidelines or in the audience to cheer them on whether it was a sporting event, concert or dance recital. But most of all she loved her Lord, Joanne was a shining example of how to love Jesus and love others as Jesus would.
The family would like to thank the staff at Meth-Wick Community with special appreciation to her Arbor Place friends and caring staff. Memorials can be made in Joanne’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
