Eva M. “Eve” Parrish, 88, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, May 16, 2016 at Northbrook Manor Care Center.

A funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 at St. Pius X Catholic Church officiated by Rev. Phil Thompson.  Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning.  Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include her children Lisa Mazurek of St. Michael, Minnesota; Susan (Mark) Scobell of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Lynne Caldwell of St. Michael, Minnesota; and Michael (Mary) Parrish of Cedar Rapids.  Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Sophia, Jack, and Natalie Mazurek; Anne, Laura, and Rebecca Scobell; Megan Caldwell; and Kathleen and Grace Parrish.

Additional survivors include her siblings Rose Ann (O.B. “Doc”) Giltner of Fairlawn, Ohio and Leon (Rose) Leinen of West Des Moines; brother-in-law Robert Parrish of Denver, Colorado; three sisters-in-law: Darlene Leinen of Kalona, Norma Leinen of Keota, and Jerri Leinen Moeller of Davenport; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Whitney Parrish; her parents John and Anna Leinen; a son-in-law, David Caldwell; her sisters: Mary Catherine Gerleman and Bernadette Adam; and three brothers: Donald, Arthur, and Jerome Leinen.

Eve was born at South English, Iowa the daughter of John and Anna (Britten) Leinen.  She graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in Harper and was a magna cum laude graduate of Mt. Mercy College.  On December 26, 1959, she married Whitney Parrish at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.  Whitney passed away in 1994.  

They were charter members of St. Pius X Parish where she was active in St. Anne’s Circle.  She was a long-time member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority as well as the Tuesday Study Club.

Eve was previously employed by DRI and NW Railway, Western Weighing, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  In 1993 she retired after twenty years as accounting manager of Fleck Sales Company.
