Donna Lee Karshner, 87, of Marion, Iowa, died Monday, May 16, 2016 under the care of UnityPoint Hospice at St. Luke’s.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the chapel.  Entombment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Donna was born October 18, 1928 in Urbana, Illinois to Charles and Evelyn (Stone) Nichols.  She was united in marriage to Kenneth D. Karshner on November 12, 1947 in Oakwood, Illinois.  To this union, four children were born.

Donna and Kenneth had been residents of Cedar Rapids since 1973.  Together, they owned and operated the Sirloin’N Brew Restaurant until their retirement in 1993.  Donna was a longtime member of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church where she was active in the Tuesday Morning Bible Study.

Donna was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and the Order of the Eastern Star.  She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her children: Susie (Bob) Karshner of The Villages, Florida; Kenneth Karshner of Cedar Rapids; Barbara (John) Maynard of The Villages, Florida; and Marsha (Russ) Smith of North Bend, Washington; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother Charles (Mary Lou) Nichols of Veedersburg, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth in 2002, and three sisters: Thelma, Dolores, and Kae.
