Donald “Mike” Bonney, 76 of Cedar Rapids died Wednesday May 11, 2016 at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola. Services at 10:30 AM on Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Paula Meyer will officiate. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral home from 4 to7 PM on Friday where there will be Masonic rites at 7:00 PM.

Survivors include two daughters Rhonda Flores (Richard) of Ottumwa and Amy Jo Cejka of Cedar Rapids; two sons Mike (Becky) of Atlantic and Steve (Mellisa) of Tazewell, Tennessee; four sisters Becky Schwartz of Ottumwa, Pam Van Kleek of Oskaloosa, Melody Murphy of Burlingame, Kansas, Denise Gregory of Pella; and one brother Lee Voege Jr. of California. He is also survived by three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his good buddies Fred, George and Glenn Marshall who he has joined (that’s two Ns and two Ls). He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. 

Mike was born on September 18, 1939 in Davenport the son of Willard and Georgia Reynolds Bonney. He married Alice Koebke in 1959. They were later divorced He later married Barbara Jo McKim in 1964, they were later divorced. The love of his life was Gloria Bernet for over 25 years.

Mike worked in maintenance for the City of Cedar Rapids and retired from there after many years of service. 

He became a master mason in 1973. He was a member of Springville Lodge No. 139, Worshipful Master of Kingston Lodge No 676 in 2001, the Cedar Rapids Scottish Rite and York Rite; Palestine Council No 27, Apollo Commandery No 26, the Grand Commander in 1999 of the Grande Commandery Knights Templar of Iowa, El Kahir Shrine, Order of Quetzalcoatl, the Royal Order of Scotland and Knight Mason. 

Mike proudly served in the Air Force and enjoyed fishing with his family and Thursday nights Texas Hold’Em. Mike will be greatly missed and his memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
