I was very sorry to here about Stewart, He had a big heart for helping lots of guys with either motors or giving them a chance to drive one of his cars. We didn't always get along but I respected his opinion . I wish I could attend his funeral , but I will be racing sat at the Jones County Fair & West Liberty. I'm sure Stewart would understand. Our thoughts are with his family.

Growing up, Steward and all the kids on 43rd were my friends and classmates. As a young boy, I envied Steward's cars in his toy collection. On hot summer days like this, we'd play outside for hours. We put a baseball through the window of the Greenwoods' house. Long ago our paths went different ways. But this sad news has reminded me what funny, busy kids we all were, Steward especially. My sincere sympathies to Jean (who I can only think of as "Mrs. Salter" really), Renae, and all the family.

I would like to extend my sympathy the Salter family, and I hope that these loving words will comfort and support you through this time of sorrow. Jehovah God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. And he will wipe away the tears from all faces. Psalms 34:18; Isaiah 25:8 NWT Bible. Peace be with you.

Deb and I offer our sincere condolences to the Salter family. Stewart and I grew up together back in the ‘60s in the old neighborhood. Man, there were a lot kids in the neighborhood back then, and everyone’s mom was your mom too. Stewart was a few years older than me but we all hung around together at one time or another back then. We all got into trouble and mischief together regardless of our various ages.
Later I installed some of the electrical at Stewart’s shop when it was being built. I used to stop there often for work on my car or just to say hello and chat a while. Stewart always took time to stop what he was doing and visit when I stopped by. I enjoyed those times greatly as Stewart was one of those guys that could always make you smile and laugh.
Even when I visited him in the hospital he always had something positive to say along with something funny. He was one of those guys who was able to see things from a different perspective than most people. He was often quite insightful and usually made ‘too much’ sense. I’m going to miss him a lot.

He truly will be missed at extended family gatherings. We wish we had the words to say to lessen the shock and the grief for you...but we don't. Just know that you are in our thoughts and that your hurt weighs on heavily on our hearts as well. Love to you all, Dave and Joanie Neyens

My thoughts and prayers for Stewart, his family and the gang at the shop. Stewart always treated me as more than a customer and always bailed me out of whatever mess I got myself into with my projects. He always did so with a smile and a laugh and his passion for the work and the people that brought that work in, was special and rare. a great shop, but it was the friendly and fun environment that kept me coming back.
