Berle Alice Frey, 85, died peacefully Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at her home in Lisbon.  Visitation will be held Friday July 29 from 5pm to 8 pm at the Wadena Presbyterian Church, Wadena, IA.   A Memorial Service will held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30th with visitation starting an hour before at the church.  Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family with Cremation and services.

Berle Alice Frey was born on December 19, 1930 to Morris and Esther (Downs) Christensen and lived on a farm near West Union, Iowa.  She attended the Windsor #1 Country School and graduated from West Union High School.  On June 19, 1949, she was united in marriage with Warren Frey at the Bethel Presbyterian Church in West Union.  Four children were born to this union.  They farmed with her father- in-law near Wadena for a few years.  They then moved to a dairy farm outside of West Union where they lived until the winter of 2005, when they moved to Lisbon.  Berle attended the Presbyterian Church in West Union and St Paul Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon.  She enjoyed square dancing, sewing and painting/varnishing the woodworking done by Warren.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.  Every family gathering you could always find her with a baby on her lap.  Berle also loved taking care of her flowers.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Warren, two brothers Robert and Emory, and her daughter Margaret Friauf.

Those left to cherish her memory are Alvin (Laura) Frey of Cedar Rapids, Duane (Norma) Frey of Lisbon, Lynn (Gene) Bond of Arlington and Kyle Friauf of Florence, AL. Grandchildren; Alexander Frey of Lisbon, Benton (Monica) Frey of Cedar Rapids, Matthew (Amy) Frey of Carlisle; Anthony (Jennifer) Frey of Lisbon, Jennifer Frey and  Tom Nardy of Cedar Rapids,  Jesse (Meghan) Bond of Arlington, Tracy (Matt) Zitelman of Jesup,  Casey (Andy) Sabers of Strawberry Point,  Reed Smith of Iowa City and Makenzie Frey of Lisbon.  Ten great grandchildren; Lydia and Aubrey Frey of Cedar Rapids,  Cooper and Calvin Frey of Carlisle,  Brittany, Benton Michael and Brayton Frey of Lisbon,  Isabelle and Charlotte Zitelman of Jesup, Parker Sabers of Strawberry Point, twin sister; Merle Riggs of Waterloo and many nieces, nephews and cousins who adored her. 

Memorials may be made to St Luke’s Unity Point Hospice.
