Arlene E. Gieskieng, 89, a resident of the Meth-Wick Community died there on Saturday July 9, 2016. Services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday.

Survivors include three daughters Sandra (Jim) Kimball of Marion, Terri (Perry) Tharp of Cedar Rapids and Jackie (Kirk Talbott) Fossum of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren Kim (Mike) Roudabush, Danielle Rouw, Nicole Shanstrom, Alicia Richards (Mark Peveto), Matt (Skye), Andy and Mike Fossum, Mike (Stacy) Tharp and Brian (Kris) Tharp; 13 great grandchildren and a brother Jim Cannon.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Robert, a grandson Bret Weaver, a great grandson Derek Box, her parents, 4 sisters Betty Blackwell, Dovie Patton, Susie Borsheim, Myrle Griffin, and an infant son Robert Clark Gieskieng. 

Arlene was born on January 28, 1927 in Pocahontas, Arkansas the daughter of Omer and Dovie Hogan Clark. She married Robert W. Gieskieng on January 30, 1947 in Cedar Rapids. Robert passed away in 2007. 

Arlene worked the Parking Violation Office for the City of Cedar Rapids for over 20 years, retiring in 1985.

Arlene loved and enjoyed her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
