Terry Richard Burger, 69, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Banner Del Webb Medical Center in Sun City West, Arizona.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home with a Rosary Service beginning at 4:00 p.m.  Entombment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Terry was born September 23, 1946 in Cedar Rapids to Kenneth and Dolores (Ament) Burger.  He graduated from Regis High School in 1964 and was united in marriage to Cecelia L. O’Rear on February 4, 1967 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.

Terry was employed by Rockwell Collins for forty years as Marketing Director for CPC until his retirement in 2007.  He was a highly successful business man and marketer who “got things done.”  For more than twenty-six years, he was an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, participating in many groups and ministries.  He served as an usher, president of the church council, and most recently on the grounds crew.  He was also actively involved in volunteering for many years at St. Vincent De Paul, Knights of Columbus 909, and the St. Pius X Booster Club.  Truly a generous person, Terry was always first in line to help those in need and found great pleasure in giving back.

In addition to being one of the world’s biggest Iowa Hawkeye fans with more than fifty years as a Hawkeye season ticket holder, who never missed a game, Terry also enjoyed golfing and spending time with friends and family.  His friends and family were certainly a great source of pride and joy for him.

Terry would like to let you know that his work here is done.  He received a call, sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning.  This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time, along with a brand new set of wings complete with a black and gold tiger hawk emblem.  He will miss everyone, but he will be waiting to welcome all of you to the Hawkeye Huddle in Heaven.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Cecelia; his daughter Laura (Chris) Ganter of Frisco, Texas and his son Christopher (Makaila) Burger of Davenport, Iowa; his five grandchildren: Taylor, Alexa, and Rylee Ganter and Nicolette and Noah Burger; his great-granddaughter Olivia Henry; his beloved sister Teresa Frisch of Cedar Rapids; and Dottie Burger of Hiawatha.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Dolores, his nephew Timmy Frisch, and daughter-in-law Laurie Burger.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Terry’s name may be directed to St. Vincent De Paul.
