Marilyn “Lynn” Jeanette Cropper Asprooth, Age 86 of Cedar Rapids died on April 19, 2016, in Lincoln Nebraska.  Lynn was born on October 23, 1929 in Craig, Nebraska to Floyd and Elvira Cropper.  She married Richard “Dick” Asprooth of Rockford Illinois at Lyons, Nebraska on June 20, 1954.

Lynn was a graduate of the University of Nebraska and taught physical education over a period of 20 years.  Following teaching, she worked as office manager and financial secretary for Central Park Presbyterian Church for 19 years.

She was a member of Delta Delta Delta and held most of the offices in the local alumnae chapter as well as serving in state offices and six national offices.  She received the national Ernestine Block Grigsby award given to one alumna each biennium who has given outstanding service to their local chapter.  She was a member of KG of P.E.O. and served in many offices including president of the chapter and as president of the Reciprocity Group of Cedar Rapids.  She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and held numerous chairmanships over the years as well as being a member of the sanctuary choir.  At St. Paul’s she also served as the wedding coordinator.

Lynn leaves behind her two daughters, Vicki Roy (Joe) of Lincoln, NE and Jody Taylor (Ric) of Steward, IL. 3 grandchildren Luke Taylor (Jamie), Stephanie Roy, and Allison Carson (Keenan), and 2 great grandchildren Alex and Abby Taylor

A Celebration of Lynn’s life will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Saturday May 7 at 3pm.  Visitation with family will take place at St. Paul’s on May 7th from 2pm to 3pm preceding the memorial service.
