John “Pinky” Wheeler, age 83, of Rochester, Minnesota, formally of Hiawatha, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the River Bend Senior Living in Rochester, Minnesota. 

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. April, 25, 2016 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.  Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Private inurnment will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum.

John was born October 23, 1932 in Waverly, Missouri to John and Lola (Yuille) Wheeler.  After graduating high school, John was united in marriage to Margaret Lynn on August 5, 1955, also in Waverly, Missouri.  To this union, two children were born.

John worked as a technician for Rockwell Collins for thirty one years until his retirement.  He was a member of the Hope United Church of Christ.  John enjoyed woodworking, square dancing and fishing.  He was a devoted husband and father, and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his son Gregory Wheeler of Rochester, Minnesota; and three grandchildren: Tana Wheeler-Cart, Darren Wheeler-Elm, and Jake Elm.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Margaret in 2015, son Michael Wheeler and a brother Thomas Wheeler. 

A memorial fund in John’s honor has been established.
