Darlene E. Maas, 81, left this earth to be with her heavenly Father on April 26, 2016, after a brief battle with cancer.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11am at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, IA.  Visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 4-7pm at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, IA.  Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Darlene was born on August 8, 1934 near Walford, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Ruth Brockschink.  She attended grade school in Walford, high school in Norway, and also attended the University of Iowa and Coe College.  Darlene married Gerald Maas at St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead on August 15, 1954.  To that union was born three daughters and one son.  Darlene was a loving mother to her children and helped operate the family farm.  She was active in the mission of the church, including serving as an organist for over 40 years at various churches, singing solos for funerals and weddings, and various other activities such as helping with the construction of the Lutheran Interparish School by installing tile on its walls, all to glorify God.  She also enjoyed Bible Study and had a lifelong love for music.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Gerald, and their four children, Barb Maas of Frankfort, Kentucky, Marilyn Maas of Chicago, Dean (Cheryl) Carrington of Coralville, and Sharon (Chuck) Newbold of Williamsburg.  She is also survived by her brother, John Brockschink of Norway, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
