Robert D. Bonesteel, 81, of Toddville, passed away, Friday, September 4, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Funeral service:  11:00 am Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Echo Hill Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Nathan Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm Monday at the church. Private inurnment with military rites will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn; sons, Douglas (Kris) Bonesteel of Des Moines and Darrell (Carrie) Bonesteel of Marion; grandchildren, Amber (Justin) Clifton, Jacob (Tiffanie) Bonesteel, Zackary Jensen, Ryan Jensen, Joshua Jensen, Dakota Elmore, Ashley Peyton, Kristopher Peyton and Jessi Peyton; great grandchildren, Samuel, Benjamin, Brayden, Baylee, Annabelle, David, Jaiden and Lillian, Peyton, Kristian, Mason, siblings, Oliver Bonesteel of PA, Marjorie Nearmyer of Cedar Rapids and Daisy Roehr of Marion; nieces and nephews, Brad (Cindy) Roehr, Todd Roehr, Jeanne (James) Janssen and Nikki (Tim) Hall, Robert D. (Carole) Lambert, Renee (Robert) Grubbs, Cheryl (John) Lambert-Otto, Katheryn Dittmar, Elizabeth Elaine (Rich) Turpin, Vesta Parizek, Ira (Lisa) Parizek, Alva (Judy) Perizek. Reita (Mike) O'Rourke, James (Malinda) Bonesteel & Stephen (Donna) Bonesteel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Ila Lambert, Ruth Olson, John Bonesteel and Mary Jean Parizek.

Robert Dale Bonesteel was born January 3, 1934 in Shellsburg, Iowa the son of Vesta and Katie (Weisert) Bonesteel. Bob served in the U.S. Army for one enlistment. On February 4, 1961, he married Marilyn Danner in Anamosa, IA. Bob worked as a lab technician at Rockwell-Collins for many years. He enjoyed vacationing with his family, worked in security at all Iowa Hawkeye homes games and was an avid fan, was a 20 year leader of Boy Scout Troop #158, refurbishing old cars, fishing, and hunting. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Memorial donations may be given in his name to the Echo Hill Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
