She was preceded in death by her parents.

Margaret was born March 22, 1960 to Michael and Shirley (Moran) Linnan in Cedar Rapids.  She attended the University of Iowa where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance and a Master of Fine Arts degree in flute performance, while studying with world-renowned pedagogue Betty Bang Mather.

She enjoyed serving on the faculties of Grinnell College, Mount Mercy College, Coe College, Cedar Rapids Symphony School of Music, the Five Seasons Chamber Music Festival, and as a Teaching Assistant in Flute at the University of Iowa.  Margaret taught many flute students in both Suzuki and Traditional methods and her students routinely achieved outstanding success in competition at the state, regional, and national levels.

Margaret performed as Solo Piccolo with the Cedar Rapids Municipal Band and was a featured soloist.  In addition to her studio teaching and freelance performing, Margaret was employed as an artist/clinician serving the Cedar Rapids public high school flute sections.  Her students enjoyed the benefits of her exceptional teaching, as well as mentoring, friendship, and guidance.

Margaret has been an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish since 1992.

Margaret was a dedicated and inspirational wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.  We all sought her words of comfort and wisdom, knowing she would guide us towards excellence in all of our endeavors.  We will forever miss her love and infectious positive personality.  She always gave us the strength and conviction to move forward facing any challenge or adversity in life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Margaret’s name may be directed to the Anna Purna Ghosh Foundation (APGF).

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, the Kennedy Band Parents, and the Rockwell Collins community for their support and prayers; Dr. Mary Anne Nelson, and Dr. Chirantan Ghosh and staff, and the Mercy Hospital and St. Luke's Hospice staff for their special loving care.  We also were blessed by the friendship and companionship of cousin, Connie Lorenz and long term friend, Stephanie Hodge.
