Francis Carroll McMann, Sr. of Cedar Rapids passed away Friday, November 27, 2015 surrounded by his family at his home.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015, at 2pm at Immaculate Conception Church in Cedar Rapids officiated by Rev. Christopher Podhajsky with a visitation before at 1pm.  A visitation will be held Sunday, November 29, 2015, from 1-3pm with a Rosary service at 3pm at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  A private family burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery following cremation. 

Francis was born May 9, 1920, in Marengo, IA to Clinton and Mary (McGivern) McMann.  Francis married Wilma Kimm at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Marengo on August 6, 1940.  They moved to Cedar Rapids in December, 1940, when he started employment at Collins Radio.  He served in the US Navy during World War II. He returned to Collins Radio until he retired in 1982. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW Post #788), American Legion Post #298, The American Federation of Musicians Local #137, the Cedar Rapids Elks Lodge (No 251), and the USA Dance Club.  His hobbies were music and ballroom dancing which he enjoyed to the fullest.  He was a student of the Arthur Murray International School of Dance for many years.  

Francis is survived by his son Francis, Jr. (Carolyn) McMann of Marion, IA, daughter Diane (Mark) Bedell of Iowa City, son-in-law Dave Newmister of Cedar Rapids, daughter-in-law, Mary Jo McMann of Frankfort, IL, 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and his sister Mary Possehl of Williamsburg, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 40 years, Wilma; his son, Keith; daughter Kim; and brothers, Edward, Paul, James, Joseph, Vincent, and Urban.

He wants to thank his friends and acquaintances, especially his care giver, Joanne Fox, and those of the YMCA (Health and Fitness Center) for all the love and support.
