Margaret A. Wheeler, age 80, of Hiawatha, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.  Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Private inurnment will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Margaret was born August 3, 1934 in Waverly, Missouri to Hubert and Chloe (Wynne) Lynn.  After graduating high school, Margaret was united in marriage to John C. “Pinky” Wheeler on August 5, 1955, also in Waverly, Missouri.  To this union, two children were born.

Margaret worked as a secretary to the Cedar Rapids Police Department for nineteen years until her retirement.  She was a member of the Hope United Church of Christ.  Margaret was an avid square dancer and enjoyed to sew.  She was a devoted wife and mother, and will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

She is survived by her husband, John “Pinky;” son Gregory Wheeler of Rochester, Minnesota; and three grandchildren: Tana Wheeler-Cart, Darren Wheeler-Elm, and Jake Elm.

Preceding her in death were her parents and son Michael Wheeler.

A memorial fund in Margaret’s honor has been established.
