Marcia was born June 7, 1940 in Duluth, Minnesota to Michael and Ruth (Conway) Woods.  After attending college, she married Curtiss Nylund on June 4, 1960 in Virginia, Minnesota.  They moved to Cedar Rapids shortly after their marriage.

Marcia worked for the Cedar Rapids Public Schools for thirteen years, serving as a secretary and a counselor.  She later assisted her husband at A-1 Electric.  Marcia enjoyed being with friends and family to play dice and cards, especially rummy and hearts.  She had fun camping with her family and loved taking yearly family vacations.  She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

She is survived by three sons: Todd (Shelly) of Manchester; Les (Jacquie) of Castle Rock, Colorado; and Kevin (Gina) of Louisville, Kentucky; two daughters: Colleen “Coco” (Layne) Smith of Baker, Louisiana and Carrie (Greg) Manhart of Fairfax; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one more, soon to be born.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; husband of nearly fifty-five years, Curtiss on April 19, 2015; brothers Joe and Bob Woods; and sister Char Saari.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Marcia’s name has been established care of Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, 4200 1st Avenue NE, Cedar Rapids, IA  52402.

The Nylund family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mercy Hospital Cedar Rapids and Hospice of Mercy for their care and compassion toward both Marcia and Curt.  They were in good hands, now they are in God’s hands.
