Gary Joe Smith, 75 of Marion formerly of Edgewood passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, May 7. A funeral service is being held at Faith Lutheran church Monday at 11:00 with a visitation beginning at 10. Friends may also call on the family at the church, Sunday, May 10, from 4-7 ending with a Masonic service.
Gary was born to Wayne and Joyce (Culbertson) Smith on November 19, 1939. He graduated from Edgewood High School in 1959. Gary work at Rockwell Collins in a variety of positions over his 36 ½ year career before retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Hawkeye Motorcycle Club and Played “cowboy” in Desperado at Ushers Ferry. He enjoyed woodworking and was always was willing to help anyone who needed it. He could never say no. Gary was also a Allis Chalmers enthusiast.
Gary is survived by his wife Joyce, sons: David Smith of Apple Valley, MN, Alan Smith and Alan’s son Kelby of Enumclaw , WA, Randy (Jamie Lankford) Smith of Marion.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
