Betty L. (Soukup) Perkins, 89, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015 at Ridgecrest Village in Davenport, IA.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11:00am at Chapel of Memories at Cedar Memorial Park. Visitation will be before the service from 10:00am to 11:00am.  Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park. Luncheon to follow graveside service at the family center. 

Betty was born July 31, 1925 in Center Point, IA to Louis and Bessie (Valenta) Soukup.  She graduated from Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids.  She married John Perkins on September 28, 1962 in Dallas, TX.  They first lived in Nassau, Bahamas until 1965, then moved back to Dallas until 1972. They moved to in Knoxville, IA in 1972 where Betty lived until 2006.  She lived out the rest of her years in Davenport, IA.

Betty worked at Collins Radio as a secretary for many years.  She also worked alongside her husband at his CPA practice in Knoxville, IA.  She enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques and depression glass, watching Iowa Hawkeye Basketball and the Chicago Cubs.  But her greatest joy came from watching her grandchildren play their many sports. 

She is survived by her daughter, Barb (Neil) Nichol of Davenport, IA; her son, Jim (Angela) Perkins of Arlington Heights, IL; sister, Evelyn (Cheryl) Rutledge of Cedar Rapids; three granddaughters, Hailey (Ryan) Delf, Andrea Perkins, and Caitlin Nichol; grandson Joseph Perkins; and two nephews; David Rutledge and Chuck (Kris) Rutledge.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 35 years, John he passed in 1998.
