August Ray Baack, 90, of Marion passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Mercy Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 1pm at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, May 22, 2015 from 4-7pm at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
August was born December 16, 1924, in Woden, Ia to Paul and Augusta (Brandt) Baack. August was united in marriage to Waiva Beck on August 15, 1943 in Nashua, Ia. He served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Waiva of Marion; his son Gary (Marilyn) Baack of Marion; two grandsons, David (Janice) Baack of Cedar Rapids and Paul Baack of Marion, and one great-grandson Ryan.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Arthur, John, and Walter; and one sister, Alma.
