William (Bill) D. Carter, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday March 22, 2015. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-6 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A private inurnment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Michele, his daughter, Beth Carter of Cedar Rapids, his son, Keith Carter and wife Sara of Cedar Rapids, his grandchildren; Ava Elaine Carter and Marcus William Carter, a sister, Rea Wilcox and husband Joseph of Rochester, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, older brother Edward, older sister Claudia and younger brother Charles. 

Bill was born April 29, 1944 in Hillsboro, Iowa, the son of Lewis and Madge Munford Carter. He graduated from Elkton High School in Elkton, Minnesota in 1962. He served two years in the Army at Ft. McClellan, Alabama where he met and married Michele Tayson on March 4, 1967. William worked as a foreman for Prestressed Concrete of Iowa for 12 years and as a delivery driver for Kings Material for 23 years before retiring in 2009. He was a longtime member of Teamsters Local 238. 

Bill was a dedicated do-it-yourselfer who enjoyed tackling large home improvement projects, especially with his son. He dearly loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
