Mark Edward Dirks, 60, of Springville, died Tuesday June 30, 2015. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Gazebo in Butler Park, Springville from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his children; Aaron Dirks and Alysha Dirks both of Springville, his mother, Marilyn J. Shadix, brother, Eric Dirks, sister-in-law, Debbie Dirks, niece Kori and her husband, Ryan Brown, great-nieces Addison and Liliah Brown all of Irrigon, Oregon, his niece Tana Dirks of Kennewick, Washington, his brother, Randy Dirks, of Battle Creek, Michigan, his former wife, Danielle Frisch and former sister-in-law, Carol Frisch both of Springville, and his loving cat, Smudge of Springville. He was preceded in death by his father, Alva H. Dirks.
Mark was born June 22, 1955 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Alva Dirks and Marilyn Shadix. He graduated from Springville High School in 1973 and proceeded to pursue a career in carpentry. With this knowledge he dedicated most of his time to working for families and friends in and around the Springville area. Mark was a former member of the Sons of the American Legion. He also enjoyed playing golf, visiting with his many friends, spending time outdoors, and spending time with his family.
Memorials may be directed to the family and will be donated to the American Legion and the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center.
