Cecilia Navratil was born June 2, 1917 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of John and Lottie (Moudry) Taylor.  Following her graduation from St. Wenceslaus High School, Cecilia attended Mt. Mercy College.  She was united in marriage to Jerome Navratil on August 17, 1939.   She was employed at Russell’s Guide before beginning a career at Stamats Communications that spanned 35 years, employed first as an assistant accountant and then chief accountant.  She retired in 1983.

Throughout her life she followed sports teams in the area and was a supporter of the arts and theater in Cedar Rapids.  She enjoyed going to movies and reading.  She loved Cedar Rapids and closely followed local, national, and international news.   She was a generous person and a meticulous record keeper about herself, her family, and her home.  She enjoyed scrapbooking and after retiring began researching family genealogy.

Cecilia is survived by one daughter, Karen Wires, grand daughter, Sarah Wires, and son-in-law, John Wires, all from Annandale, VA; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Taylor of Cedar Rapids, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerome “Jerry” Navratil in 1985 and her brother, Richard “Dick” Taylor.
