Maxine (Mickey) Sievers age 91 passed away peacefully Sunday July 5, 2015 at Woodland in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Funeral service will be held 10:30am Saturday July 11, 2015 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Father David Beckman will officiate at the service. Visitation will be 4 to 7pm Friday July 10, 2015 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home with a Scripture service starting at 3:30pm. Burial will be at 1:30pm Saturday at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.

To honor her memory; Beverly (Don) Wilder of Marshalltown, IA, Thomas (Hideyo) Sievers of Alameda CA, Donald Sievers of Wading River, NY, James (Christine) Sievers of Cedar Rapids, IA, Robert Sievers of Klamath Falls, OR, Kathryn (Brian) King of Florence, KY and Gary (Robin) Sievers of Cedar Rapids, IA; Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews; She was preceded in death by her Parents; siblings Opal Luerkens, Ruth Gamble, Verna Schultz, Arlo Kirkpatrick, and Dean Kirkpatrick  

Mickey was the fifth child born to Ray and Carol Stockton Kirkpatrick on July 27, 1923 on a farm north of Mt. Vernon. The family moved to Anamosa for her senior year and graduated in 1941. She frequently returned to Lisbon for her class reunions. 

On September 27, 1941, she eloped with Eugene (Gene) Sievers. Seven Children blessed this union. They divorced in 1980.

Mickey enjoyed decorating cakes and used her talents for the Hiawatha Elementary School, St. Luke’s Hospital and Family events. She liked to dance and enjoyed friends at both Hiawatha and Marion Senior Citizen Center weekly. She volunteered many hours making over 100 prayer shawls for both the Mercy Hospice House and St. Matthews ministries. 

She was a member of St. Mathews Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids Bowler, and St. Matthew prayer shawl ministry, P.W.P., Nifty Nine and St. Monica’s Circle.
