Josephine “Jo” Talbott, 88, of Cedar Rapids passed away July 30, 2015 at Unity Point Hospice at St. Luke’s Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Services will be Tuesday, August 4, at 11 AM at Salem United Methodist Church, with lunch to follow. Friends may visit on Monday, August 3 from 4 to 7 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will have a private inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Josephine was born November 25, 1926 in Cedar Rapids to Walter and Caroline Pose. She married Delbert Talbott November 27, 1946. She was a stay at home mother while their children were in school.
Survivors include her husband, daughters, Carol (Dan) Downing of Ft. Collins, CO, Barbara (Jim) Vancura of Cedar Rapids, Diane Talbott of Cedar Rapids and Kathy (Paul) Kyle of Opelika, AL, three grandsons, two step-grandsons, one step-granddaughter, four great grandchildren, a sister Erma Thompson of Reedsburg, WI and brother Walter Pose, Jr. of Medford, OR, ten nephews and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Caroline Pose.
Strong in her Christian faith, Josephine was involved in many aspects of church life at Salem United Methodist church, serving as an officer for the United Methodist Women and singing in the choir. With her husband, she volunteered for many years at the United Methodist commission of Relief. She was a founding member of the Cedar Rapids Emmaus Community.
Josephine was a long time member of IH Chapter, PEO. She was an active quilter, providing all members of her family with handmade quilts, and was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling this beautiful country with her husband. She was a loving person who will be greatly missed by friends and family.
