Memorial
Genevieve M. Keefer, 92, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Sun City, AZ and Kalamazoo, MI, died July 13, 2015 at West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Genevieve was born on January 3, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois to Paul and Vlasta (Bilek) Linhart. She was united in marriage to Robert F. Keefer on June 6, 1942. Robert preceded her in death in 1995. She worked alongside her husband at their drugstore, Keefer’s Rexall Drugs, in Kalamazoo, MI. After they retired, she and Robert moved to Sun City, AZ where they had several close friends and enjoyed playing bridge and golf. Later, Genevieve moved to Cedar Rapids to be close to her son, John.
Surviving are her son John P. Keefer and wife Trudi; granddaughter, Jaclyn M. Kurtz and husband Brad; her great grandchildren, Thomas J. and Hope M. Kurtz all of Marion; her sister Ruth Marx of New Buffalo, MI; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
A memorial visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 North Barton Street, New Buffalo, MI 49117. Inurnment at Pine Grove Cemetery will be immediately following the memorial services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to a charity of the donor’s choosing in Genevieve’s honor.
