Ruby A. Elsbury, 78, of Cedar Rapids died on Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Belle Plaine Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ruby will be missed beyond words by her family, including her husband of 60 years, Duane Elsbury of Cedar Rapids; 4 children, Duane Jr. (Wendy) Elsbury of Vining, IA; Virgil (Joyce) Elsbury, Teresa Elsbury, of Cedar Rapids, and David (Katie) Elsbury of Belle Plaine IA; 4 sisters, Gladys Huber, Dorothy Freese, both of Cedar Rapids; Eline Sauers of Alburnette, IA; Elizabeth Rathiel of Paxton, FL; brother Albert Hansen, of Quasquinton, IA; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and on the way 2 great grandchildren set arrive in February and May.
She was preceded in death by parents, brother Ronnie Hansen and sister Myra Neal.
Ruby Elsbury was born November 14, 1936 in Hazelton, Iowa the daughter of Reuben and Gladys (Pratt) Hansen. She was raised my John and Irene Dobeck. She married Duane Elsbury on August 29, 1954 at the Edgewood Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids. Ruby was a rock to her family and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She was a loving and caring person, who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
