Allan J. Glasford, 85 a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center died there on Friday January 23, 2015, exactly five years to the date that Phyllis, his beloved wife of 60 years passed away. Graveside services at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Friday.
Survivors include a son Jay (Jinnine) of Cedar Rapids, a daughter Teri Glasford (Michael) Doraby of Ballston Spa, New York and a sister Susan (Michael) Ricks of Bath New York. He is also survived by four grandchildren James (Kathleen) Macarevey, Erin (Kevin) Enser, Scot (Amy) Glasford, Whitney (Brandon) Dalecky and five great grandchildren. Allan was born on December 16, 1929 in Edwards, New York, the son of John and Irene Cousins Glasford. He married Phyllis H. Witters on December 19, 1949 in Gouverneur, New York. Phyllis passed away in 2010.
Allan worked in human resources at Raytheon and Amana Refrigeration for over 30 years, retiring in 1992.
He was an avid golfer, a member of the Retirees Monday Golf League, and proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War.
Allan enjoyed bowling and especially the time spent with his many friends and beloved family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
