Ralph LaCombe Jr., a resident of the Meth-Wick Community died Friday February 20, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services at 11:00 AM on Thursday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where there will be a visitation from 9:30 until service time at 11:00 AM. Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Entombment with military rites at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his daughter Laura LaCombe of Cedar Rapids and a son Lee (Kim) of Urbana. He is also survived by granddaughters Abby LaCombe of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Erin LaCombe of Cedar Rapids, two step grandchildren, one nephew, three nieces and several grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one brother.

Ralph was born on January 10, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Ralph and Sylvia (Toman) LaCombe Sr. He graduated from Coe College in 1950 and later earned his Masters degree from the University of Iowa in 1962. Ralph married Wanita M. Ward on September 17, 1950 in Cedar Rapids. Wanita passed away in 2014. Ralph was the owner-operator of LaCombe Kucera and Associates.

Ralph was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, the Optimist Club, where he had been Past Governor, the Community Concert Association, the Navy Band. Past President of Tanager Place, New Horizons Band, Dixie Notes Plus, at active Coe College Alumni, Marion American Legion Post No. 298 and proudly served in the Navy during WWII.

Ralph enjoyed woodworking, golf, tennis, playing handball and especially the time spent with his many friends and beloved family.
