Katherine Isabelle Tellier, 97, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in the Woodlands in the Meth-Wick Community. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Congregational United Church of Christ by Ryan Downing. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be on Friday from 4-6 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband of 74 years, John R. Tellier, and daughter, Diana Tellier of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, her grandchildren; Kevin (Tina) Schoner of Burlington, CT, and Kerry S. Arehart of Chandler, AZ. Her great-grandchildren are Rachel, Kyler, Ethan and Taylor. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Jessie “Scottie” Diers and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Frederick E. Diers, brother-in-law, G. Howard “Bud” Tellier and sister-in-law, Winston Tellier.
Katherine was born June 12, 1918 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Frederick and Helen (Thompson) Diers. She married John R. Tellier on April 5, 1941 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Kay graduated from Franklin High School in 1936. She was a 69 year member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Congenial Hundred Dance Club from 1966-1999, and a 60 year member of P.E.O. Chapter HJ. Kay enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling, bird watching and especially dancing. John and Kay have been with the Meth-Wick Community since 1996. Katherine was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Woodlands Nursing and CNA staff and to St. Luke’s Unity Point Hospice nurse, Barb, for the loving care given to Katherine.
