Betty Jean Dankert, age 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday August 18, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.Service will be 10:30 am Saturday August 22, 2015 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be 4:00pm to 7:00pm Friday August 21, 2015 at Cedar memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Surviving are her children Evelyn (Roger) Prasil of Cedar Rapids, Gerald Dankert of Des Moines, Wendy (Bob) Bucklin of Marion; grandchildren, Lorrie Prasil-Holcomb, Wade (Kris) Prasil, Somer (Jeff) Sherwood-White; great-grandchildren, Ben Holcomb, Abbi Holcomb, Oliver Sherwood; step-grandchildren, Max (Cathy) Bucklin, Mindi Bucklin; step-great-grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon Donagan, Rylie and Gabe Bucklin; sisters, June (Chuck) Swallom of Guttenburg and Rose Perkins of Camden, AL; Uncle Kenneth (Delores) Wilkins; step-sister, Dorothy Heins; and many nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Dankert; parents, Roy and Charlotte (Wilkins) Brown; step-father, Louis Wagner; In-laws, Jack Perkins, Lee and Lana Dankert, Willard and Pearl Dankert, Boyd and Mildred Dankert, Richard Dankert, Wilma Huston, Jane Thompson; and three step-sisters. 
 
Betty was born May 15, 1927, the daughter of Roy and Charlotte (Wilkins) Brown, in Arlington, IA. She grew up in Luana, IA.   On June 2, 1946 she married Kenneth Dankert. Betty was a member of Luana Methodist Church and attended Salem E.U.B. She greatly enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling and gardening. 
 
She loved to decorate cakes, sew, and crochet. Betty also enjoyed bird-watching, reading, watching movies, and collecting frogs. Her greatest love in life was her family. They were very important to her and she will be greatly missed by all.
