Susan Jean Kohler, 70, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, April 9, 2015 at her residence.
An informal gathering of remembrance will be held from 2 to 5 pm Sunday May 3, 2015 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Susan was born November 21, 1944 in Cedar Rapids to James and Lucile (Hargitt) Kohler, Sr. She received her bachelor’s degree from Coe College, and worked as a Systems Engineer for IBM, and later as an I.T. consultant for St. Luke’s Hospital.
As a female Systems Engineer in 1966, she was a feminist in behavior, not in verbiage. Her epitaph could be: “I did it my way.” She was brilliant without knowing it, funny, generous and compassionate.
Susan is survived by her brother Mike Kohler of Portland, Oregon; niece Kim Peach of New Hampshire; five great-nieces and –nephews; as well as her Schnauzers Miller and Charlie, who were her children.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Phillip Kohler and James Kohler, Jr., and her niece Lynn Gibson.
