Richard L. Brandenburg, 73, of Cedar Rapids IA, passed away Wednesday, September, 3, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha IA, with his loving family by his side.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00am Monday September 8, 2014 at Christ Community Church in Marion. Rev. Chad Jennings will officiate at the service. Visitation will be from 3 to 6pm Sunday September 7, 2014 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
 
Rich was born May 19, 1941 in Oelwein IA.  He graduated high school from Strawberry Point IA in 1959.  Rich was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Shirley (Bergan) on August 11, 1962.  They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary with their family this year.

Rich was employed by Unisys for 29 years.  After retirement in 2000, he continued to work at Car Quest in Marion, IA until 2010.

Rich was a charter member of Christ Community United Methodist Church of Marion IA.  He enjoyed maintaining the church grounds for many years and was a member of the Board of Trustees.

Rich was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and papa and was passionate about spending time with his family.

Rich is survived by his wife, Shirley (Bergan), four children, Rodney (Elgean) Brandenburg, Darren (Karen) Brandenburg, Marc (Stephanie) Brandenburg, and Carla (Robert) Emanuel.  Thirteen grandchildren, Heather (Jesse) Jordan, Cory, Sara, Kyle, Trenton, Paige, and Liam Brandenburg.  Claire, Rian and Jack Emanuel.  Aubrey, Paige and Nichole Hagemann.  Two great granddaughters, Ella and Mya Jordan. Mother, Darlyne Corell, step-mother, Donna Brandenburg and mother-in-law Anna Bergan. Sisters, Cheryl (Brandenburg) Kramer, Barbara (Roger) Oltman, Georgiann (Robert) Meester, Judy (Larry) Haynes and Joann (LaVerne) Hammond.  Brothers, Bill (Judith) Brandenburg, Mike (Georgann) Brandenburg, Paul (Patty) Brandenburg and Neil Brandenburg.  Brothers and sisters-in-law, Jan Bergan, Venita Wolleat, Marie (Nolan) Knight, Jim Bergan and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Finis Brandenburg, step-father, Cletus Corell, father-in-law Leo Bergan and brothers-in-law, Kenney Bergan and Ken Wolleat.
