Memorial

Robert E. Mittan, 72, of Marshalltown passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the Marshalltown Veteran Home in Marshalltown.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 3 to 6 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Services will be held on Saturday at 11 AM at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.  Burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.

Robert Eugene Mittan was born on May 21, 1942 to Fred and Goldie Yerington Mittan in Cedar Rapids.  He proudly served in the US Army during Viet Nam.  He was united in marriage to Lidia G. Salgado, Marilyn Ohmstead, and Veronica Bass.  They later divorced.  

Survivors include his children, Gene (Maria Magdalena) Mittan of Boling Brook, IL; Michelle (Earl) Kern of Des Moines; Robin Mittan of Chicago, IL; Scott (Jennifer), Jason (Amber) Mittan, and Angela Mittan all of Cedar Rapids; and Shane (Rae) Mittan of East Moline; siblings, Robert E. Mittan, Fred (Judith) Mittan, Sharon Ludwick, Eva (Elmer) Wright-Hessenius, of Cedar Rapids Larry (Judy) Mittan of Florida; 22 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and former wife, Veronica Bass.
