Ophelia V. Mallory, 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Westridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids.

A funeral service celebrating Ophelia’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with the Rev. William Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Visitation will be held from 4-7:30 pm Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include her children, Delores (Edward) Lynch of Cedar Rapids, Virginia Waller of Colorado Springs, CO, Carolyn (Greg) Bass of Nashville, TN, Delbert (Annette) Mallory of Cedar Rapids; step-children, John Mallory Jr. of Los Angeles, CA,  Norman Mallory of Winona, MN, Donald Mallory of Iowa and Barb Newton of Turloch, CA. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, step-son Charles Mallory, brother, Cornelius Farris Jr. and sisters, Mary Graham and Martha Farris.

Ophelia Virginia Farris was born February 14, 1928 in Eolia, Missouri the daughter of Cornelius and Blanche (Booker) Farris. On October 16, 1960 she married John D. Mallory in Cedar Rapids. He passed away December 2, 1992. Earlier during her working years, she was a graphic artist for several department stores. Ophelia worked in housekeeping at the Meth-Wick Manor for over 25 years until she retired. She was a member of the missionary society at Bethel AME Methodist Church. She enjoyed crafting, baking, music and being with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
