Shirley A. Dettmann, 87, a resident of Winslow House Care Center in Marion died Saturday July 12, 2014 after a long illness. Services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday.
Survivors include four granddaughters, Melissa (Mark) Janowiec of Zimmerman, Minnesota, Michelle Loveland, Jennifer McCormick and Kari (Jay) Kenney all of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter Kristen Kenney.
Shirley was born on June 28, 1927 on Nebraska City, Nebraska the daughter of Joseph and Helen Myers Mead. She married Melvyn J. Dettmann on December 12, 1948 in Cedar Rapids. Melvyn passed away in 2011.
Shirley enjoyed baking, ceramics, reading and especially the time spent with friends and her beloved family. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
