Floyd D. Frantz, 82, of Palo, passed away Sunday July 27, 2014, at home with his family at his side, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. 

Floyd was born December 29, 1931 to Alfred and Ruby Frantz. As a young man he was active in Boy Scouts and 4 H. He completed his entire education in Palo School, graduating in 1949. Floyd married Lillian Peterson on March 4, 1951 in Cedar Rapids. He was a lifelong Palo Farmer. In addition, he worked in Cedar Rapids at various jobs and served on the Palo Telephone Company Board of Directors for 25 years and was a guard at the D.A.E.C. 

Floyd and Lillian enjoyed traveling in their R.V. to many places. He enjoyed writing poems, playing Jokers Wild, hunting, boating, camping and spending time with family and friends. 

Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Lillian, his children; Karen (Dennis) Vote of Plano, Texas, Larry (Donna) Frantz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Connie (Jim) Hoffmann of Mc Kinney, Texas, and his sister, Yvonne (Jack) Burkhart of Vinton, Iowa. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Cheryl Beenken. 

Services: 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Palo United Methodist Church by the Rev. John Howerton. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall in Palo. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
