Doris Joy Miller age 87 died Saturday July 19, 2014 at Living Center West Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids.
Service will be 11:00am Saturday July 26, 2014 at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Rev. Glenn Hunt will officiate at the service. Visitation will be 4 to 7PM Friday July 25, 2014 at the Westside Chapel. Private Family burial will be at a later date.
Surviving are her 2 children Donna Jean (Lee) Borntrager of Cedar Rapids and Thomas Perry Miller of Marion; 3 grandchildren Philip (Daria), Matthew (Carrie) and Nathan; 1 great grandchild Andrew; She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leland on July 6, 1971; and brother James Wesly Olver.
Doris Joy Miller was born March 12, 1927 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was the daughter of Earl and Clara Erickson Olver. On July 29, 1950 Doris and Leland Miller were united in marriage in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids and attended Mt. Mercy. Doris worked for Linn County Abstract as a Proof Reader before retiring.
Doris was an Avid Cubs and Hawkeye Fan. She was a lifelong member of Eden United Church of Christ in Cedar Rapids, Koinonia, Church Choir, Eden Quilters, Assistant organist and pianist, New Encounters, Belles and Beaus Square Dancing and Chada Pautz Fellowship
She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
