Louise K. Goldblatt, formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, died Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the age of 85 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, after a brief illness.  She was born December 26, 1928 in Cheyenne, Wyoming and was the youngest child of David and Rose Komisor.

Louise married Leroy M. “Larry” Goldblatt of Sioux City on August 28, 1949 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.  They met at the University of Nebraska.  She was Sisterhood President and an officer of the board at Mt. Sinai Temple in Sioux City as well as the music and Hebrew school teacher.  She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, gardening, knitting, and collecting clocks.

Louise is survived by her two children, daughter Laurie (Dr. Robert) Silber and son Dr. Fred L. Goldblatt.  She has two grandchildren, David (Rebecca) Silber and Abbie (Feivel) Strauss and five great-grandchildren: Lewis, Nathan, and Audrey Silber; Joseph and Eden Strauss.  She was especially close to her niece Nancy LeVine (Ian Brookbank).

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Hon. L.M. Goldblatt; brother Oscar Komisor; and three sisters: Frances “Stormy” Schrage, Esther “Eddye” Kaufler, and Annie Komisor.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Temple Judah, 3221 Lindsay Lane SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa officiated by Rabbi Todd Thalblum.  Donations may be made to Hospice of Siouxland, 4300 Hamilton Blvd., Sioux City, Iowa 51104 or the American Heart Association, 208 S.
