James William Heitzman age 72 died December 12, 2014 at the University Of Iowa Hospital.
A Celebration of life visitation will be 1 to 5 PM on Tuesday December 16, 2014 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date.
Surviving is his wife Bonnie; children Ken (Dawn) Heitzman of Marion and Karen (Tadd) Hatch of Waukee; 4 grandchildren Brett, Adelynn, Mickey and Genavieve; two sisters Dorothy (Bob) Klein of Dubuque and Janice (Don) Lewis of Port Byron, Illinois; He was preceded in death by his parents.
James William Heitzman was born October 22, 1942 in Dubuque, Iowa. He was the son of Clarence and Mary Schmidtt Heitzman. James worked for Qwest, McLeod telecommunications and later for the Cedar Rapids School District. James served his country in the United States Navy. On January 24, 1970 James and Bonnie Heck were united in marriage in Marion, Iowa. James was a member of the American Legion in Benton County and the U.S. Fleet Reserve. He enjoyed reading, being nice to people and most of all he treasured the time he was given to spend with his family and friends. He was a loving Husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
The family has requested no flowers.
