William L. Ask, 77, of Cedar Rapids died Saturday August 9, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. Services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Rev. Lynn L’Abbe will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Pat, three sons, Michael (Jeri) of Cedar Rapids, Gary (Pamela) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Brian of Rockford, Illinois; two daughters, Vicki O’Brien and her fiancé Kevin and Lori (Charles) Menge all of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren Jennifer and Ryan; Michael, Steven, Laurie, Elizabeth, Christopher; Kira; Candace and Will; and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Bill was born in a boxcar on October 8, 1936 in Kanaranzi, Minnesota the son of Hans and Amelia Solem Ask. He married Patricia E. Elson on December 28, 1974 in Cedar Rapids. Bill was the owner and operator of Ask Auto Glass and retired from there in 1999 after 43 years of service.

He was a faithful member of Our Savor’s Lutheran Church, a Big Brother of three Littles through Big Brothers Big Sisters, Past Master of Mizpah Masonic Lodge # 639, XYZ, Past Monarch of Ambar Grotto, High Twelve, El Kahir Shrine where he had been a Shrine Clown as well as proudly serving in the Army.

Bill enjoyed model railroading, had a great sense of humor and was a great story teller. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his many friends and beloved family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
