Thomas E. Fleckenstein, 80, of Cedar Rapids died Wednesday August 6, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital of cancer. Memorial services at 1:00 PM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday.

Survivor include two daughters, Marti Nesbitt of Kansas City, Missouri and Chris (David) Puk of Cedar Rapids; three sons Brad (Katie) of Castle Rock, Colorado, Jeff of Littleton, Colorado and Matt (Laura) of Elmhurst, Illinois. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Jena and Ryan Nesbitt; Sami, A.J., Jessi and Owen Puk; Tug, Tommy, Stephi, Grace, Dani, Noah, Hannah and Emily Fleckenstein; and two great grandchildren Hayden and Kayden. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Francis Wells and a grandson Zachary Fleckenstein.

Tom was born on August 8, 1933 in Cedar Rapids the son of A.J. and Grace Francis Fleckenstein. He attended the University of Iowa where he played football and later graduating from Iowa State where he played baseball. He married Marilyn Jensen on September 3, 1955 in Ottumwa. Marilyn passed away in 2009.
 
Tom was the owner and operator of Charter Coaches for fifteen years and most recently did furniture restoration in south Florida.

Tom enjoyed camping on the Mississippi River and skiing in Colorado with family and friends. He also enjoyed all sports especially watching his grandchildren participate in their sporting events. He was a member of the Rotary Club and proudly served in the Air Force as a pilot.

Tom was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial donations may be given to Unity Point Hospice in Tom’s name.
