Raymond D. Novey, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, August 4, 2014 at Crestview Acres Nursing Home in Marion.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, August 7, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church officiated by the Reverend Father Mark Ressler.  A vigil and rosary service will take place 4:00 PM Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Wednesday evening.  Interment with military honors will take place at St. John’s Cemetery.

Raymond was born August 17, 1932 in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin to Henry M. and Marie B. (Zacerias) Novey.  He served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and spent two years stationed in Okinawa.  Raymond was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Novak on May 2, 1959 in Cedar Rapids.

He was employed by Quaker Oats, and then later at Collins Radio as a Test Technician until his retirement in 1989.  Raymond was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.  He was a Master Gardener who enjoyed beekeeping and hobby farming.  He was a member of the Good Earth Garden Club.  Raymond also loved listening to gospel music and the Hee Haw Show.

He is survived by daughters Karen Holliday and Cheryl Busbee, both of Cedar Rapids; sons Stephen (Carol) Novey of Central City and Brian (Donna) Novey of Martelle; five grandchildren: Adam, Camie, Jenny, Greg, and McKenna; eleven step-grandchildren;  twenty-six step-great-grandchildren; twenty-five step-great-great-grandchildren; and uncle Lawrence (Joan) Novey of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Barbara in 2013; brother Kenneth Novey and sister-in-law Bea Novey; and son-in-law Dale Holliday.
