Merle K. Zaruba, 88, of Marion, died Tuesday August 12, 2014 in Willow Gardens Care Center. Services: 3:00 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. The Rev. Carroll Brown will officiate.  Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.  

Survivors include his children; John R. (Jeanne) Zaruba of Lone Tree, Iowa, Marvin (Liz) Zaruba of Central City, Iowa, Dennis (Terry) Zaruba of Marion, Iowa, Sandy K. Wiggins of California, Rita A. (Herb) Drymon of Springville, Iowa, Nadine L. (Michael) Tribble of Belgrade, Montana and Sharon S. (Craig) Ramsey of Grinnell. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy M. Zaruba and a sister, Maxine Mc Cormick.  

Merle was born September 27, 1925 in Jones County, Iowa, the son of Henry and Edna (Grassfield) Zaruba. He married Dorothy Edleman on October 12, 1946 in Jackson County Iowa. Merle was employed with Cherry Burrell and Banjo Refrigeration.  Merle served in the Navy during World War II. He was a hardworking man. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. 

A memorial fund has been established by the family.
