Lois V. Ceynar, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014.  

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories officiated by Rev. Sean Lillis.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to service at the chapel.  Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Lois was born August 5, 1927 in Glasgow, Missouri to John G. and Edna E. (Downey) Garner.  She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and later attended beauty school in West Burlington.  She was united in marriage to Earl F. Ceynar in August of 1959 in Iowa City.

Lois was a homemaker for most of her life.  She was very active with the Good News Baptist Church congregation.  She loved to collect cookbooks, and she enjoyed cooking; some favorite recipes were homemade lemonade and fresh strawberry pie.  She liked to spend time outdoors, and enjoyed gardening.

Surviving family members include her husband of fifty-five years, Earl Ceynar; daughter Darlene Speidel of Cedar Rapids; son Chris Ceynar (Amy); grandson Jonathan Speidel of West Des Moines; aunt Winona Howard of Dallas, Texas; niece Sue (Bob) Huber of Cedar Falls; and nephew Mike (Candice) Garner of Ely.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Allen Speidel in 2007; and brother Paul Garner.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in honor of Lois.
