Clayton and Colton Novak, twin brothers, 9, of Mt. Vernon, passed away together on Monday, August 4, 2014 from injuries suffered in an accident.

A funeral service celebrating both Clayton and Colton’s lives will be held at 10:30 am Friday, August 8, 2014 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Mt. Vernon. Chaplain Jim Coyle will officiate. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Thursday at the St. John’s Catholic Church, Mt. Vernon.

Survivors include their parents, Curt and Jen Novak of Mt. Vernon; brother, Nate at home; grandparents, Wayne (Diana) Novak of Mt. Vernon and Richard (Sandy) Havel of Riverside; great grandmother, Thelma Hubler of Lisbon; aunts and uncles, Chad (Dawn) Novak of Lisbon, Brian (Joanne) Havel of Lone Tree, Kim (Ian) Scott of Iowa City, Melissa (Frank) O’Meara of Lone Tree and Chris Havel of Lone Tree. Also surviving are many great aunts, great uncles and cousins.

They were preceded in death by their great grandparents.

Clayton and Colton Novak were born December 22, 2004 the sons of Curtis and Jennifer (Havel) Novak. The boys currently attended the Mt. Vernon Washington Elementary School. They enjoyed playing soccer, wrestling, fishing at the cabin, dirt bikes, ATV’s, camping, swimming, and snowmobiling. They especially enjoyed anything John Deere, 4-H, showing cattle, and picking on their big brother. They both did everything together and will be greatly missed by their animals especially WeeWee (Canadian Goose) and all who loved and knew them or came in contact with them.
